Hi. I’m Robin.
I build thoughtful and deliberate brands, connect people, and lead multidisciplinary teams — with empathy — to success.
I’m currently the director of growth marketing for an early-stage startup in Vancouver. Before this, I led the product and brand growth for #Gastropost, and before that, I helped build Yelp in Canada as one of their original Community Marketing Managers. I get excited about leveraging the power of technology to improve consumers’ lives.
I co-founded, own and operate Branch & Butter, an immersive experiential retail store; sit on the board of directors for Tourism Bowen Island; am the co-founder of Vancouver’s Food Cart Fest; have a soft spot for BC wine, and use more em dashes than anyone I know.
I read a lot, and like to share what I read. I travel as much as I can, often to Japan, more often to California. I practice Japanese daily, but (still) read, write, and speak it at a preschool level.
I have a welsh terrier, Gimli, whom I love dearly. She tolerates me.
Here are a couple of nice things about me:
“Robin's creativity and innate organizational sense, combined with her ability to quickly and accurately assess marketing obstacles means she is great to work with. In a busy environment, she doesn't require fully detailed instructions in order to come up with a finished product that is always better than what I had pictured. She's friendly, positive, and smart – and very good at what she does.” - VP of Strategy, Postmedia
“Robin McMillan – our resident marketing guru extraordinaire. Passionate about people and technology, within a short time Robin mastered the quirks of our systems, took my headaches away, and delivers stellar service to our internal clients. Robin inspires me to be the best that I can be.” - VP of Digital Marketing, Vancity
